Class duration 2.5 hours for 6 consecutive weeks. The student will cover the basic techniques for the beginner. You will first learn the art of centering the clay which will allow you make different pot shapes. Trimming a foot onto a pot and surface decoration is covered. Materials included. One Night Handbuilding - Sgraffito Dish Fri Apr 11 @ 6:30pm Une nuit de façonnage Evelyn Leon English / Anglais Friday/Vendredi 6:30 PM 9:00 PM 4/11/2025 99 Register – Inscrire In this week?s workshop, students will explore their creativity through a handbuilt dish on which they will apply the sgraffito technique. The students will be provided with a number of options to create the main form of their dishes, and they will then apply coloured slips to their projects and carve out their decorations using an assortment of sgraffito tools as demonstrated by the instructor. All pieces will be clear glazed to highlight this fun decorative technique.Price includes 2.5 hours of instruction, all materials, tools, and the glazing and firing by our technicians. Projects will be ready for pick up in approximately 3 weeks (participants will be notified via email). This workshop is open to clients 16 years and older.Dans l?atelier de cette semaine, les élèves exploreront leur créativité à travers un plat fabriqué à la main sur lequel ils appliqueront la technique du sgraffite. The class will experiment with different decorating styles using patterns, embellishments, and underglaze colors and slips to enhance the work. There will be a deeper tutorial in glazing and decorating techniques to enhance patterns and textures on the students work. 10kg of clay included, with more available for purchase. No prerequisite. Glazing Session - Wed Apr 16 @ 10am-12pm Session d'emaillage English / Anglais Wednesday/Mercredi 10:00 AM 12:00 PM 4/16/2025 40 Register – Inscrire An opportunity for experienced active students who have taken at least one full session including glazing at Gloucester Pottery School to come and glaze the bisqueware they could not complete during class. There is no instructor for this session. Additional glaze firing fees per pot will be tabulated and payment taken at the end of the session. Limit of 6 clients at a time during each 2 hour block. Please note our glazes are specifically formulated to be used with our own clay bodies in our own kilns. This more advanced class will push students to make more technically difficult forms. Prerequisite: Ability to center and pull walls up consistently, if unsure please contact the school to discuss which class is best suited to you. Ages 12 to adult.
