One Night Handbuilding - Mugs - Fri Dec 19 @ 6:30pm Une nuit de façonnage Vanessa Villarreal English / Anglais Friday/vendredi 6:30 PM 9:00 PM 12/19/2025 99 Register – Inscrire An opportunity to try something new with this single evening handbuilding workshop. In this week?s workshop, students will explore their creativity through handbuilt mugs! Once the form is created, the student will be instructed on how to decorate it using various techniques which may include wax inlay, sgraffito, slip trailing, or carving.Price includes 2.5 hours of instruction, all materials, tools, and the glazing and firing by our technicians. PLEASE NOTE projects are generally ready for pickup approximately 3 weeks after the workshop, but the studio will be closed for the holidays. You will be notified via email in early January when they are ready. This course is for students who have completed two to three courses on the wheel and who can consistently throw a cylinder, evenly, as high as it is wide. 10kg of clay included, with more available for purchase. Prerequisite Level 1.5. Ages 16 to Adult. What to expect:- The first 20-30 minutes will be a demonstration- The next 1 to 2 hours will be spent throwing pots on the wheel ? the whole class together at first so the instructor can ensure everyone?s successful first pot, and then students can continue at their own pace- The last 20-30 minutes the student will be instructed on how to clean their work stations ? an important part of the pottery making process to maintain a safe and healthy studio environmentAfter the workshop our technicians will trim and fire your pieces and they will be ready for you to pick up in 3 weeks. The students will be provided with a number of options to create the main form of their dishes, and they will then apply coloured slips to their projects and carve out their decorations using an assortment of sgraffito tools as demonstrated by the instructor. All pieces will be clear glazed to highlight this fun decorative technique.Price includes 2.5 hours of instruction, all materials, tools, and the glazing and firing by our technicians. Projects will be ready for pick up in approximately 3 weeks (participants will be notified via email). Coffee Gloucester Pottery School will provide coffee and light snacks Saturday and Sunday morning. We encourage you to bring a mug. You are welcome to bring your coffee into the Theatre.
